Patient Attend

Self-attendance by a patient

Patient Attend is a national service which organisations can sign up to use. The Patient Attend application allows patients to inform their healthcare provider that they have arrived for an appointment. The patient can then wait outside the department until contacted.

  1. The patient selects their hospital from a list of all facilities signed up to the service.
  2. The patient enters their date of birth, first three characters of their surname, and a contact telephone number.
  3. The application checks that the patient has an appointment at that facility.
  4. Once the patient has confirmed that this matches the appointment they expect, a facility-specific message is displayed to confirm their arrival at the hospital.

Integration with Scheduling

Patient Attend sends a message to Scheduling to say that the patient has confirmed their arrival. The event status will be updated to Arrived.

The patient's telephone number can be viewed via the Scheduling whiteboard, enabling department staff to contact them with instructions for how and when to come into the department.

Note:

The Patient Attend display is limited to the modality and the date / time of arrival (to maintain anonymity of the data within the application).

Tip:

The Patient Attend URL can be added to patient letters and text messages for customers that have Communicator.
