Communicator - System Administration

1. Click Patient Notification Types.
2. If you want to check an existing type, click it and details will be displayed.



3. Click Create New.
4. Complete the fields as described in the table below.
5. Click Save.

Field	Description
Name and description	These appear in the list of available types. Choose a unique name and meaningful description.
Enabled	Select the tickbox to make this type active once you have configured it.
Event Type	Source of events. Defaults to None (all sources). You can select Cris.
Event Status	HL7 event status code. Enter a comma-separated list for multiple values. SC - Scheduled IP - In progress CA - Cancelled CM - Complete F - Finished Blank - Any
Sites	Enter a comma-separated list of site codes for multiple values.
Modalities	Enter a comma-separated list of modality codes for multiple values. See Cris > Tables Setup > Normal Tables > CrisMODL for your local codes.
Out Patients Only	Select the tickbox to include only Outpatient events (i.e. exclude Inpatient events). Out Patients Only depends on the outpatient types being configured for the event type.
Text	This is the format of this type of message, including variables. Magentus Service can help you write text.
Allow Suppression	Allow suppression prevents more than one message of this type being sent to the patient in one day. This is useful for Cris events with multiple exams where both exams are considered separate events on the Communicator.
Reminder	Reminders are sent the given number of days and hours before the due date and time. Non reminders are sent the given number of days and hours after the status change time.
Working days only	Working days only means the notification will not be sent on weekends or bank holidays. If the send date of a reminder falls on a non working day, the date is decreased until it is on a working day. If the send date of a non reminder falls on a working day, the date is increased by one until it is on a working day.
Allow send after due date	Allow send after due date should generally be disabled for appointment notifications but can be enabled for cancel and result notifications.
Latest send before due date	This is to allow a patient reasonable notice to attend an appointment.
Earliest send after status change	This is to allow time for re-booking if, for example, an appointment was cancelled.
Send hour	Earliest and latest hour to send are hours of the day only, not minutes, e.g. 9 for 9 am and 17 for 5 pm. This is to prevent messages being sent when the department is closed.

1. Create a test patient in Cris.
2. Add a mobile number (your own) and record consent.
3. Create a new event for the test patient.
4. Note the event details.
5. Create a patient notification test using the same event details.
6. Click Test Notifications.

You will receive a text message.

• Each result type can be configured with a subject and text to send to the referrer.
• Whether the referrer is sent the result depends on the result transfer options of the referrer.
• The result type of incoming result messages is selected by the result script for the event type.
• The monitoring user will receive a copy of all results sent of that type.

There are the standard result notifications for Critical, Significant, and Urgent findings.

You can create additional notifications to your own specifications.

Result notification summary types typically include a list of results awaiting acknowledgement, results that have been acknowledged, and results that do not require acknowledgement. Recipients of these summaries are configured in the Summaries page.
